Nitrox
Diver
This
course provides the fundamentals of Nitrox diving,
and introduces the diver to using Nitrox as an
optimum breathing gas, ideally suited for diving
within the 15 – 39 metre range, utilising
EANx mixtures ranging from between 21%-40%, with
emphasis on using ‘standard’ mixes
of 32% & 36%, aimed at maximising bottom time,
reducing or avoiding decompression penalty, and
decreasing Surface Interval. The course can be
taken as a 1-day theory-only module, or with an
optional 2 dives.
A
2/3 day course that introduces the diver to using
custom Nitrox mixes up to 50% for accelerated
decompression, using Nitrox Tables and computers.
Dive planning, gas management and Oxygen servicing
of equipment forms the content of the course,
together with an intensive practical element.
The use of twinsets can also be introduced here.
This course is the ‘springboard’ to
the technical diving route. It can be combined
with the basic Nitrox course.
Prerequisites:
Sports Diver + Nitrox or equivalent.
This
course introduces the diver to Extended Range
Diving (ERD) and the use of mixed
gas (Trimix), enabling them to build on their
depth experience to conduct planned dives
to a
maximum of 50 metres, using gas mixtures of 20-23%
Oxygen and a maximum 30% Helium. Advanced
kit
configuration, the use computer-generated dives
tables, gas management and decompression systems
form the basis of this course. The course is
conducted over 4 days and includes a minimum
of 3 dives.
Prerequisites:
Min. age 18. Sports Diver + ERD or equivalent.
This
course qualifies the diver in the use of Trimix
gas mixtures containing greater than 30 % Helium,
but still using Normoxic Oxygen levels of between
20-23%, enabling them to conduct planned dives
to a maximum depth of 60 metres. It builds on
the divers previous knowledge, allowing progressive
build-up of depth and technique. The course is
conducted over 5 days and includes a minimum of
4 dives, if taken together with the Recreational
SMG, or it may be taken as an additional module
at a later stage, requiring 1-2 extra dives, and
can be completed in 1 day.
Prerequisites:
Min age 18. Sports Diver + Rec SMG or equivalent.

Advanced
Mixed Gas Diver (AMG) Course
Instructor: Mark Powell
This
course, subject to a progressive build-up of depth
experience beyond that encountered during their
training, qualifies the diver to conduct planned
dives to a maximum of 80 metres, utilising Hypoxic
gas mixtures of less than 20% Oxygen. Further
kit configuration method, use of computer-generated
dives tables, gas management, decompression techniques
and contingency form the basis of this course.
The course is conducted over 5days and includes
a minimum of 6 dives.
Prerequisites:
Min age 18. Sports Diver + Normoxic SMG or equivalent.
Each
1-day course is aimed at the diver who either
intends to mix gas in a branch or dive centre,
or wishes to expand their knowledge of the gas
mixing process. Each course covers blending calculations
and software, blending equipment, gases, Oxygen
cleaning, hazards and risk assessment and is followed
by a practical session calculating and blending
various mixes.

Dive
Sites
With
50+metres available just off the beach,
5 minutes from the dive centre, in a sheltered
bay, practical skills and course dives can
be attained right up to Normoxic Trimix
level. A short boat trip gives access to
greater depths, enabling use of deco systems,
and the Zenobia provides the utlimate ground
for ERD courses.
